My Portfolio & Dividend Updates (End October 2021)

Monthly update on my Portfolio percentage breakdown and dividends received (if any).

It's the end of the month, so it's time for a portfolio & dividend update. (:

My portfolio listed here consists purely of equities and cryptocurrencies only, and excludes social security (CPF & SRS), debt instrument holdings (i.e. bonds & SSBs etc), emergency funds, as well as personal savings.

As such, any returns from the excluded items above (e.g. dividends from CPFIS/SRS investments, coupons from bonds and interest from saving accounts etc) will be excluded from the total amount in the 'Dividend Updates' section below as well.

Portfolio Breakdown by Securities

For the month of October, I bought in a small amount of Vanguard S&P500 UCITS ETF (VUSD) using my dividends as I didn't want to convert them back to Singapore Dollars. Once again this is in line with my goal to increase the S&P 500 stake in my portfolio to 40% eventually.

I also bought a little more cryptocurrency, again for more exposure, and redeemed some free cryptocurrencies from Coinhako, using the daily login points that I have accumulated on the cryptocurrency platform itself. The blockchain markets are as usual very volatile, with huge swings here and there. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index at the point of writing is now 74 (Greed). For comparison, just last month it was standing at 20 (Extreme Fear).

I emphasise here that I am not encouraging anyone to go into cryptocurrencies or to embark on this crypto trading endeavour of mine. I am fully aware of the risk involved with cryptocurrencies, and is very well prepared to lose everything I put into my cryptocurrency holdings. So please do your own due diligence.

I will continue to direct new funds to increasing my emergency savings for now, before I start rebuilding my Warchest for more investment action next year. haha.

In the mean time, number of covid-19 cases have been averaging around 3,000+ cases daily, so please stay safe everyone. Let us all minimise our social interactions for now, and to go for your covid-19 vaccination or booster dose if you are eligible. Together we can defeat covid-19. :)

[NOTE] I currently use Coinhako to buy and sell my cryptocurrencies. If you are keen also to explore using Coinhako, you can sign up using my referral link here, or alternatively key in my referral code 162668_68430856 when signing up for an account. - Disclaimer: I get a tiny commission when you trade (To clarify, it does not affect you, and you are not paying more when you trade. The commission is given by Coinhako as an additional reward to referrers). If you enjoy reading my content, this small commission goes a long way to help me pay for the blog's hosting fees.

Dividend Updates

October is a dry month for dividends and I only received a few dollars worth of dividends. As such, I shall lump October's dividend amount together with November's amount in the coming portfolio post update.

My total amount of dividends received since the start of 2021 thus still stand at S$2,755.17, giving me an average dividend amount of S$275.52 monthly from January till October 2021.

Note: Dividends are recognised after ex-dividend (EX) date.
