My Portfolio & Dividend Updates (End Apr 2021)
Monthly update on my Portfolio percentage breakdown and dividends received (if any).
Been quite busy lately, but here's my belated April 2021 portfolio & dividend update. (:
My portfolio listed here consists purely of equities and cryptocurrencies only, and excludes social security (CPF & SRS), debt instrument holdings (i.e. bonds & SSBs etc), emergency funds, as well as personal savings.
As such, any returns from the excluded items above (e.g. dividends from CPFIS/SRS investments, coupons from bonds and interest from saving accounts etc) will be excluded from the total amount in the 'Dividend Updates' section below as well.
Portfolio Breakdown by Securities
For the month of April, I did not add any new equities into my portfolio, instead I added a new category into my portfolio, cryptocurrencies. :)
I used to do some crypto, before exiting the blockchain market a few years back. So guess I am back now haha.
I am starting slow here, and intend to keep no more than 10% of my portfolio in cryptocurrencies at any point, though the ideal proportion is probably more towards around 5%, as the blockchain market is after all still quite a risky market. Unlike my equities however, I would likely be trading a bit here and there with cryptocurrencies.
Note that I am not encouraging anyone to go into cryptocurrencies or to embark on this crypto trading endeavour. Note also that I am fully aware of the risk, and is well prepared to lose everything I put into my cryptocurrency holdings. Please do your own due diligence.
[NOTE] I currently use Coinhako to buy and sell my cryptocurrencies. If you are keen also to explore using Coinhako, you can sign up using my referral link here, or alternatively key in my referral code 162668_68430856 when signing up for an account. - Disclaimer: I get a tiny commission when you trade (To clarify, it does not affect you, and you are not paying more when you trade. The commission is given by Coinhako as an additional reward to referrers). If you enjoy reading my content, this small commission goes a long way to help me pay for the blog's hosting fees.
Lastly, do stay safe, especially with Covid Phase 2 (heighened alert) being implemented for the remaining month of May and through mid-June.
April is a quiet month as it is not a common month that companies give out dividends in general, and as a result I did not receive much dividends, receiving only a few dollars in fact. For administrative convenience, I shall indicate my total dividends for the month of April and May together when I do my 'Portfolio & Dividend Updates (End May 2021)' instead.
My total amount of dividends received since the start of 2021 thus still remain at S$1,329.23, giving me an average dividend amount of S$332.31 monthly from January till April 2021.
Note: Dividends are recognised after ex-dividend (EX) date.
