This blog belongs to Jeffrey, and he started this blog to journal down his personal journey towards achieving financial independence, as well as to pen down his thoughts, and to connect with like-minded people.

Welcome to Jeffrey's humble personal finance blog!

It is of Jeffrey's personal opinion that blogging isn’t just for fun, but an incredibly rewarding experience. This blog was originally intended to share his thoughts, but Jeffrey has since come to the realisation along the journey that blogging might not change his readers, but is more about changing himself. Blogging has allowed Jeffrey to share about his thoughts and knowledge, and it has also allowed him to learn from others and to recognise his lack of knowledge as well.

Growing up, Jeffrey did not come from a wealthy background, and as a child first learnt about the importance of financial planning when his dad was declared bankrupt. He witnessed first-hand how his parents struggled to put food on the table for the family during his schooling days, and grew up understanding the need for proper financial planning and literacy.

In this blog, you follow the journey of a true-blue Singaporean growing up in the world he lives in, as well as an individual on a long, uphill chase for financial independence. Jeffrey hopes to achieve financial freedom before he reaches his midlife age of 40 (base on the predicted average life expectancy of 81.4 years for a local male of his age group by the Singapore Department of Statistics), so that he can take care of his family, as well as to focus on what he loves to do without being weighed down by monetary concerns. And it was for this reason that prompted Jeffrey to discover, to his horror, in a rough calculation that he will need to accumulate near $1 million dollars, in order for him to generate the comfortable stream of passive income that he has his eyes set on. And so ever since that fateful discovery, Jeffrey has been working real hard on that goal.

It is also in Jeffrey's hope when he started this blog to give back to the local personal finance blogging community, as this was one of the main communities that really opened up his eyes to the world of financial independence when he was going through those tough times growing up. Without this community, it is safe to say that he would not be where he is today.

Outside of work, Jeffrey is just like every other typical Singaporean; he loves a good lobang, and you can be pretty sure that he is always on the lookout for great bargains to share with his readers.

On certain days, Jeffrey can be found trekking around nature parks and reserves and imagining himself to be a Pokemon trainer on his treacherous journey to compete in the prestigious Pokemon league. During Jeffrey's free time, you would most likely find him watching Youtube videos while gulping down his favourite Teh Peng or Coke zero.

In documenting his personal journey on this blog, Jeffrey also hopes that he will always be reminded of his humble beginnings, and when the day comes that his future self looks back at the path travelled, he hopes that he would have a good time laughing over his then 26-year old thoughts and decisions.

And that's it. Welcome to my blog.

simply means I may update you when there's something new, and yes it's free!
